For information on Variety - The Children's Charity of Buffalo & Western New York, 47th Annual Sunday February 22, 2009 Official Countdown To Telethon 2009: Myla Rose Kline was born on June 12, 2002. She was born a perfectly healthy baby girl. The first three years of her life went as smoothly as her parents, Jason and Michelle could wish for. She loved to swim, dance, and play with her two little sisters, Kaylin and Kierra. During the summer of 2005, Myla started to have minor symptoms of urinary reflux. She was taken to Women and Children’s Hospital where she completed the necessary tests to insure that further actions weren’t necessary. Unfortunately, the test results came back indicating that Myla had a severe case of reflux in her ureters, between her bladder and her kidneys. We had to decide whether we wanted to keep her on a daily antibiotic and postpone the inevitable, or schedule surgery. After discussing our options with Dr. Greenfield, we opted to go ahead and plan for Myla’s surgery. Myla had her surgery on December 12, 2005, and was in the hospital for almost two weeks. She went through a lot during her recovery that was amazing for a 4 year-old body to endure. She received incredible care at Women and Children’s Hospital and was showered with gifts throughout her stay, which made the time unforgettable in an enjoyable way for a child. Most of her memories of Women and Children’s Hospital are all of the wonderful things that took place during her stay. Fortunately, we made it home just in time for Christmas. Since Myla’s surgery, we have welcomed a new baby brother, Clayton, into our family. Myla is doing great and hopes to have washed her hands of her reflux. Currently, Myla takes dance at Hoffman’s School of Dance in East Aurora. She also attends Holland Elementary School as a kindergarten student. We are looking forward to a healthy and happy life for Myla.
